Dear Friends of Agriculture:

We are proud to announce that the 11th Annual Celebrating Agriculture will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 9 to 3 at the Woodstock Fairgrounds. A hearty farm breakfast will start off the event 9:00 to 11:00, $5.00 adults, $3.00 children. Exhibitors can purchase breakfast starting at about 8 am.

Farmers, agricultural associations, and agri-business are invited to showcase the many aspects of agriculture in this region. The day will include exhibits, demonstrations, music, a farm tour, animals, a 2:00 parade (participants are welcome), and family fun designed to improve understanding of residents and visitors, of the presence and importance of agriculture in the Quinebaug Shetucket Heritage Corridor.

Return the enclosed form to reserve a place at this year's event. All exhibits must relate to agriculture, forestry or the environment and include educational information about how your focus benefits our region. Your exhibit must be in place prior to 8 am and stay in place until 3 pm. There is no charge for exhibiting, admission or parking. Exhibitors must park in the field across from the North Gate entrance.

The entire day is made possible through donations. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution payable to ECCD (Eastern Connecticut Conservation District) with a Celebrating Agriculture footnote. The committee will recognize your contribution on various signs throughout the event. Please include Celebrating Agriculture in any advertisements you place before the event.

Celebrating Agriculture is an agricultural education event showcasing the benefits agriculture provides to the Quinebaug-Shetucket region as well as the challenge farms face today. Agriculture located in the hills of Northeastern Connecticut and South Central Massachusetts lies in what is called the “Last Green Valley” between Washington, D.C. and Boston. Woodstock Connecticut, as the host of this event exemplifies a town working with its agricultural industry to maintain agriculture as an integral part of both its economic and environmental future.

General Information:

  1. The goal of the day is to showcase the importance of the agricultural industry in the region and states, and to promote locally grown products. Your exhibit, demo, animals, etc., must be in place by 8:00 a.m., and stay in place until 3:00 p.m.
    • Set up will be the Friday before the event, from noon to 7:00 p.m.
    • Carry in exhibits only on Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

  2. If you will have food, samples, or sales, you will need to bring a Certificate of Insurance with the Woodstock Agricultural Society and Celebrating Agriculture as additional insured for the day. Animals must have the appropriate health forms.

  3. You may only sell your agricultural products with an exhibit or agriculture-related educational message in your sales display. You must conform to the CT Health Code and meet NE District of HEalth requirements for food items.
